Ms. Markina, I was walking on air after your performance at the Iturbi Piano Competition at UCLA recently. Your Bach Prelude in CM was played with such an exquisite touch, such perfect tempo, sensitivity. My mother and I talked about your playing for days afterwards. Also loved the interpretation of the Leyenda, you captured such a flare of Espana at such a remarkable tempo. I had a notable pianist friend who told us about you last time he heard you at Iturbi. He heard all the contesants play but in the end all he talked about was how beautifully you played the Bach/Siloti in B minor. That's why we came to hear you because he kept saying, "You must hear this young Russian girl named Markina, she is a cut above all the rest..." He was so right. I wish you could have won first at Iturbi, you so deserved it. You worked incredibly hard. I know all the hours and hours and months of preparation it must take to get ready for these competitions. Both my parents are pianists and violinist (father). i too, studied many many years since a young age and know the work involved. You are such a huge talent, I wish you could be at the concert series at Disney Hall here in Los Angeles. Congratulations on a stellar performance. and I wish you all the best in your career plans. Here's hoping you can find sponsor and or agent who will get your career ignited on a even higher level. Thank you for creating such beautiful sound, you are a remarkable talent and deserve to concertize with in every great hall and with all the great orchestras of the world.
